This saddens me since the estimates are upwards of 18 million gallons of oil spilled.
That’s more than the Exxon Valdez spilled in Alaska. And, twenty years later they are still finding sand in the beaches there.
I thought this was interesting.
Timeline: What did the media say about Bush after the Exxon Valdez?
May 27, 2010 – 10:35 ET
Remember—we’re now 37 days into the BP oil spill.
3/24/89 – Valdez accident
4/7/89 – 14 days later
“It took him a while to make up his mind. Fourteen days after the oil began pouring out of the Exxon Valdez into Prince William Sound, President Bush has ordered the federal government to take over control of the effort to clean it up, which makes it a hotter political issues, too little too late the Democrats are crying up on Capitol Hill.” – Peter Jennings
4/8/89 – 15 days later
“Decision to send troops (and equipment) is long overdue” – Dallas Morning News
4/15/89 – 22 days later
ALASKAN OIL SPILL; CRISIS NOT UNDER CONTROL DESPITE ALL THE PROMISES….
THE inexcusable delay in the cleanup of the Exxon Valdez oil spill continues. More than a week after President Bush expressed interest in the catastrophe, little federal help has arrived on the oil-soaked beaches of Prince William Sound…” – Seattle Times
Now, we are far further in, to a much bigger spill, where the government is doing much less—and the media is just (sort of) starting to wake up.

Is this woman serious?? Can’t we all see what is happening in Europe with the entitlements?? We cannot continue to be a welfare nation!! People MUST start making their own way.
Pelosi is absolutely out of her mind!
“We see it as a entrepreneurial bill – a bill that says to someone, if you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever, you can leave your work, focus on your talent, your skill, your passion, your aspirations because you will have health care. We don’t have to be job locked”

AG Holder is making all sorts of decisions about the Arizona immigration law without reading it.
Isn’t that too special. How can he comment without reading? That is just too stupid for words.

Via Ace. Dude, I’m starting to think this might be the guy. A solid first term, then reelection in 2014, and suddenly the wide-open 2016 primaries are right around the corner…

Perhaps I don’t get what Obama is trying to say here. But I don’t think it’s very smart at all.

This is absolutely beyond the pale. For real. How can the esteemed president even begin to think that uttering this drivel is remotely helpful??
Secondly, last time I checked, Xboxes and playstations don’t really deliver any relevant information other than info to play GAMES with!!
Thirdly, since when is information a distraction and a diversion?? Really?? For real??
Oh wait!!! I got it!! It’s only certain information from certain outlets that are a distraction!! I get it now!!! Just the information that doesn’t speak well about the current administration is a distraction etc. Well, now that it’s clarifed, his makes much more sense.
(AFP) – 1 day ago
HAMPTON, Virginia — US President Barack Obama lamented Sunday that in the iPad and Xbox era, information had become a diversion that was imposing new strains on democracy, in his latest critique of modern media.
Obama, who often chides journalists and cable news outlets for obsessing with political horse race coverage rather than serious issues, told a class of graduating university students that education was the key to progress.
“You’re coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don’t always rank all that high on the truth meter,” Obama said at Hampton University, Virginia.
“With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation,” Obama said.

This is TRUE.
Bank of America, can I help you?
Customer: Yes, I want to cancel my account. I don’t want to do business with you any longer.
The Bank: Why?
Customer: You’re giving credit to illegal immigrants and I don’t think it’s right. I’m taking my business elsewhere.
The Bank: Well, Mr. Customer, we don’t want to see you do that, but we can’t stop you. I’ll help you close the account. What is your account number?
Customer: (gives account number)
The Bank: For security purposes and for your protection, can you please give me the last four digits of your social security number?
The Bank: Mr. Customer, I need to verify your information, but in order to help you, I’ll need verification of who you are..
Customer: Why should I give you my social security number? The reason I’m closing my account is that your bank is issuing credit cards to illegal immigrants who don’t have social security numbers. You are targeting that audience and want their business. Let’s say I’m an illegal immigrant and you’ve given me a credit card. I have a question about it and call for assistance. You wouldn’t be asking me for a Social Security number, would you?
The Bank: No sir, I wouldn’t.
Customer: Why not?
The Bank: Because you would have pressed #2 to speak in Spanish. We don’t ask for that information when calling in on the Spanish line.
